Happy New Year! How did you party the night away? We had a Roaring Twenties party. I love that era – the clothes, parties and people were fabulous! Women got the right to vote, became more independent and daring, bandaids were invented – what’s not to love?
This is me and my husband, Tom. I have no idea why I’m kissing the gun. That seems like a stupid thing to do. I could shoot my face off. Well, not really. It’s just a pellet gun.
We’ve decided to keep this theme for the next nine NYE’s, because, well, we bought the clothes and props, and I still want to learn the Charleston. Why will it end in 2030? Well, there’s not a lot that was great about the 1930’s, unless you like dirty overalls, stock market crashes, massive unemployment and so on.
I guess we could have people come as their favorite John Steinbeck character. Instead of flapper and gangster photo props, you could put your face in that depressing Migrant Mother photo. We could have dust and tumbleweeds blowing everywhere and we wouldn’t serve snacks because no one could afford them.
On second thought, maybe we’ll keep the 1920’s theme through that decade too… Do you think anyone would notice?
Happy New Year my friends!
